Aster source attribution
This repository includes Rust code copied from the Aster project at revision
6a284afef6f8f0125f02de5040384c0588c0967d on 2026-10-23:
crates/aster-exec: Exec v1 contract, policy, service and Linux runtime.crates/aster-exec-client: authenticated Exec v1 client.crates/aster-cli-kit,crates/aster-config,crates/aster-keystore: operator command conventions, profiles and root-key storage.crates/ax: adapted Exec, key, enrollment, profile and trust CLI sources.crates/docs/aster-exec-linux.md: upstream Linux deployment reference retained for its configuration examples and the copied server's schema test.
The copied Rust crates declare MIT OR Apache-2.0; this distribution uses the
Apache-2.0 option. The Aster project and this repository's base license are
Apache-2.0; see LICENSE. Original source notices are retained.
Local changes pin the released Aster SDK through its Cargo registry, provide a
standalone ax binary without the contract-generation command family, separate
ax's storage/environment/keychain defaults, return immediately on submission,
and add a durable caller-local submission journal, directory-scoped job list,
local node aliases/listing, node capability inspection and JSON/CSV/TSV result
output. The consumer binaries also initialize the published Aster OTel pipeline
and route Exec operational messages through structured tracing events.
The standalone deployment command transfers a single ax executable; host API,
helper and supervisor roles are embedded behind ax commands. Local Linux unit
names/paths and the per-job unit prefix use ax's namespace.
The Exec v1 wire contract is unchanged. Enrollment invites are an upstream
dependency, not an implementation included here.
Documentation assets
The documentation is built with @getaster/docs 0.1.0 from Aster UI, licensed
under Apache-2.0. Its packaged notices are retained in the vendored development
tarball. Bundled Geist and IBM Plex Mono fonts retain their SIL Open Font Licence
files, which are copied into the generated documentation assets.
Portal integration
The development ax-workspace adapter uses Portal's unpublished embedding SDK,
licensed MIT OR Apache-2.0. Its native-peer test fixture is adapted from
portal-embed/examples/support/mod.rs under the Apache-2.0 option. Portal's
embednfs dependency is licensed MIT; its original notices remain in that package.
